My bougainvillea is healthy and thriving. She is huge and beautiful, but her leaves are covered in tiny black specs. These specs are also all over the ground along her entire length. She is in my backyard and her length runs east/west while she faces south and the ground in front of her is concrete so the specs are very visible. I’m guessing it’s either bug eggs or droppings. Gross!!! The edges of the leaves are definitely scalloped from something smacking on them. Her leaves are dark green and she is always flourishing with many flowers so this pest is not harming her health but I’d like to figure it out so I can get rid of it more for the gross factor than damage to my plant. However I’d hate to let it go and in the future end up with an unhealthy bougainvillea. She gets plenty of sunlight and I use a drip hose along her base to water her 2x a month. (Technically, I have 6 separate plants planted close together so it appears as one huge bush but the appearance and health of all 6 are equal). All together my bougainvillea is about 20 ft long, 8 ft tall and 3 feet deep. I’d love to share some photos but I don’t see an option for that. Thanks for any insight!
