Hi, Anthony! I really enjoyed your article and I am going to give the salt treatment a try and see what it will do on some three front yard nests. I live in the Pacific Northwest and we have a native fire ant, black and red, we call an army ant though it is just a nickname for it. It uses pine needles for the mound, two entries in and out (one on each side of the nest), and three stings from one will nearly shut down your upper thigh muscle for four months and the pain will linger deep within the tissues for 6 endless months. I truly appreciate your research and providing such helpfil information as to getting them under control as well as destroying them. Thank you.
