Wow. I am in the same boat as many of you. I moved houses even! I took none of my soft furniture or mattress from my old place. No rugs. New place: still same bug problem! The few clothes I have left and have kept in vacuum sealed bags for months or towels I brought when I moved must have done it, even though all is washed and dried at high temps and cedar oil or tea tree or peppermint oil gets added to every load of laundry!
I find the bugs everywhere! But mostly on my clothes. I have a collection of them now at different stages of growth, I need to find a bug expert to look at them. I found one, one day, unthreading the bow on my bra that I had just reattached. It was a worm-like larvae I guessed. I pull eggs wrapped in my hair, threads from my clothes (they love to undue hems and plant eggs in the seams of everything!) , fur from my dog). Not long ago I pulled off what I thought was an egg from my shirt and two big big eyes stared back at me!! It was half in a cocoon and half out!!! Freaked me out! I vacuum and wash and scrub like a Mad Woman and there is no end! I am disabled which makes it all the more difficult to keep up. I don’t work, but I may as well for all the cleaning I do. They ate through my great-grandmother’s afghan, the only thing I had from my grandma and can’t be repaired (I asked). They ate my winter coat from the inside out... left the shell, before I moved. I am afraid to buy new furniture, sheets , towels... all needed, but fear they will just be destroyed and being on disability, I cannot afford to keep replacing things! I live in pajamas now because they are the cheapest to replace. They live my cotton undies from Jockey... I’m on round four or five of buying them. This has been going on for about 3 years and I can’t find anyone to help me. My friends and family think I am crazy. However, they don’t have the evidence of the problem sitting in ziplocks waiting to be identified! If it is a mite, it wouldn’t eat threads from clothes, maybe it is a mite and another bug too. I just want to feel safe to have things in my home, and not wrapped in plastic. I just bought a new recliner today be delivered later this month. We’ll see how long that lasts! Someone PLEASE HELP!!!!

In reply to <a href="https://bugwiz.com/bugs-eating-clothes/#comment-10965">KELLEY</a>.

This is happening to me. They are every where eating my home and everything in it. Look like lint, don't move, but i've seen them fly actually a couple times. I'm very clean! And now I clean allllll day! I vacuum them, and wipe them away, I've tried so many things to get rid of them.I'm exhausted, it takes all my time & focus. People tell me to chill out that I'm making myself paranoid. What's worse they crawl on me and my hair. I don't feel them all the time. They are on my daughter and my dog. I don't want to go anywhere. I wash my clothes in hot water & dry on high heat and they're still there, what the freak do I do?, it's like a super bug. I call it all names like it came from the pits of hell. I pray God intervenes. I've thrown away almost everything now. The last things are precious items to me that I hope I can save somehow, like my Dads hat. He passed away and he wore that hat. Last night I couldn't find not one thing to put on. Please share if you can get rid of them and how. Last night I used a ant, roach and sprayed it. Earlier I used borax on small portion of capet vacuumed. I did find that it appears a magnesium sppray helps some. It was a spray someone gave me and I was never sure what it was. The label mentions foot bath, it burns or stings so I in it in lotion along with essential oils. I've made bleach sprays with essential oils. I found a picture of it online, only one, on a pest control site. Some, a very few do know what it is, it's a type of mite and there are tons of mite species. Find an expert in etymology, if one doesn't know, find another. Same with pest control. That's my next step, since I can't do it alone. I'm praying for you.
